Here are three from Splashdown Stars and Garters.

Splashdown were one of my favorite discoveries. I love them and listen to them constantly! It's sad that their best album was never released and now even their indie releases are unavailable, as their former label has also closed down. Their sound is unique and powerful, and Melissa Kaplan's vocals are wonderful. The songwriting is catchy and impressive, are well put together and are full of hooks. In other words, their music is far-ranging, edgy but pretty, not the standard verse-chorus-verse but still melodic and has knockout vocals. I can't get their music out of my head and have played their tracks over and over without ever getting tired of them.

Anyone know where I can score some "buds" in the Monterey/Salinas area?

Here are four tracks from the Pulsars. If John Hughes were still making movies that spoke to my generation, he would tap the Pulsars to provide the score. David and Harry Trumfio make music that is both large and delicate, intricate and so familiar you wonder if you haven't heard this song somewhere before. This duo from Chicago channel New Order, Echo and the Bunnymen and Big Audio Dynamite and still sound fresh. Keyboards, organ, synthesizers and a mighty horn and string section make these 16 songs full and muscular, and not a bit twee.

Can anyone hook me up with some "smoke" in the Monterey/Salinas area?
